Julian Mining Company
On Friday November 16th we’ll be continuing our education up in the hills of Julian where we will visit Julian Mining Company for a morning of “Pioneer Days” learning and fun! Join us in apple country for this fun field trip and be sure to bring a lunch. Our favorite place for apple pie (with a scoop of cinnamon ice-cream) is The Julian Pie company, and don’t get us started on the delicious apple cider donuts with maple glaze that they have, to die for! So grab your sweater, pack a lunch and a few bucks and let’s have some fun!
The gold rush program is 4 hours of interactive stations; gold panning, gem mining, fossil and artifact digging, assay office to learn properties of gold, tomahawk throwing, visiting the animals, bottle house and mining equipment, and a station devoted to economics and business in 1849— where the kids learn about America Newton the laundress and try their hand at some pioneer laundry. We will be starting promptly at 10 am so please arrive no later than 9:45 and meet us in the parking lot. We will break from the tour at noon for lunch and then resume at about 12:30 and then conclude at 2:00. Please bring your own lunch!
